Bluebirds and Lakesiders settle for goalless draw in awful weather

Haverfordwest County manager Tony Pennock has signed a 12 month extension on his contract

Haverfordwest County 0 – Bala Town 0

Wind and heavy rain didn’t help matters as both Haverfordwest County and Bala Town had to be content with a goalless draw played at the LHP Stadium Carmarthen.

Despite playing on an all weather surface, ‘Storm Burt’ caused havoc as the wind and rain lashed down, making it difficult for both teams to gain any superiority.

Haverfordwest County boss Tony Pennock (recently extended his contract by 12 months)  made six changes from the JD Welsh Cup win on penalties against Ammanford last time out. Returning to the starting lineup were keeper Zac Jones, Dylan Rees, Ben Fawcett, Ben Ahmun, Jacob Owen and returning from international duty Luke Tabone.

Zac Jones pulled off a routine save to deny Osebi Abadaki in the 16th minute, at the other end, Dan Hawkins’ dangerous cross incredibly missed everyone in the box.

Skipper Rees picked up a yellow for a foul, minutes later Ben Fawcett saw his goal bound effort was comfortably saved by Lakesiders' goalkeeper Joel Torrence.

The second period became scrappy as neither side created any chances to note as they settled for a point apiece.

"On reflection, I think it's a fair result," said Tony Pennock. "Proud of the lads, it's really been difficult for us this season with the amount of injuries we've got."
